Wundowie Primary School is an Independent Public School in the Wheatbelt Education Region, which is located 65 kilometres from the Perth CBD and 35 kilometres from the major rural town of Northam. The area is experiencing an upward population trend as increasing numbers of people are attracted to the rural lifestyle while having ready access to Perth and the metropolitan area. Enrolments currently stand at 90 students from kindergarten to year 6.

The school is very attractive and is set in a tree enhanced environment with grassed play areas, basketball/netball courts and extensive playground equipment. The town oval adjoins the school and is utilised regularly. The school is an air-conditioned with three clusters of classrooms which include an administration block, an early childhood unit, undercover area with canteen and specialist teaching areas including a library resource centre, well-resourced computing lab and art centre. Additional technology includes interactive whiteboards in all classrooms and colour printing facilities. Students have access to a local area network, e-mail and the Internet.

The staff at Wundowie Primary School is committed to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment for all students. They are experienced, highly collaborative and offer a high quality teaching and learning program. This is facilitated by learning programs being developed on an individual, small group, classroom and whole school basis. There is a strong focus on students ensuring that their behaviours, attitudes and actions are considerate of all members of the school community. The school promotes student academic, sporting and social development under the banner ‘smart, proud and strong’. Specialist teachers provide programs in The Arts and ICT. Our specialist programs, such as KidsMatter and SDERA all interlink to develop a holistic program, which integrates with the eight learning areas outlined in the WA Curriculum.

Our school is the heart of our small community and members are heavily involved within the school through the School Board and P & C. The P & C also work very closely with a variety of support organisations that run a number of community based education programs. Parents and community involvement is encouraged through a very effective School Board who work collaboratively to oversee school governance. Parents are seen as partners in the Wundowie School Community and there is an underlying belief that by working together, student outcomes will be enhanced.
