Principal's Welcome

Wundowie Primary School is an Independent Public School in the Wheatbelt Region catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Our staff, comprising of newly graduated teachers through to teachers with many years of experience and our dedicated non-teaching staff are committed to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing learning environment for students. Our vision is 'Quality Teaching Empowering Students to Maintain Improved Performance' which is reflected in our learning programs which are developed on an individual, small group, classroom and whole of school basis. There is a strong focus on students ensuring student behaviour, attitudes and actions are considerate of all members of the school community.

We are a Be You school with the vision for every child, young person, family and educator to achieve their best possible mental health and wellbeing. Be You is led by Beyond Blue, they promote mental health and wellbeing by providing evidence-based online professional learning and a range of resources to turn learning into action.

We use evidence-based programs and explicit teaching. Our teachers tailor the learning programs to suit each child's needs. Students have the opportunity to study Indonesian from Years 3 to 6. An Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) provides our Kindergarten to Year 6 students with the Nyoongar Aboriginal Language enriched with cultural lessons. Students have the opportunity to embrace and reconnect with their culture as well as better understand the history of their home.

Wundowie Primary School is set in a tree enhanced environment with beautiful gardens and ample lawn and play areas. Our recently laid basketball courts, nature play areas, several climbing frames and the town oval, which adjoins the school, provide our students with a range of activity areas that are utilised regularly.

The Wundowie Primary School P&C Association provides a platform for parent participation in the educative life of the school. They raise significant funds to support the educational programs on offer. Parent and community involvement is encouraged through an effective School Board with which we work to oversee school governance. Parents are seen as partners in the Wundowie school community and there is an underlying belief that by working together, student outcomes and well-being will be enhanced.
